Following the successful conclusion of the 0G AI Alignment Node Sale, the focus has now shifted towards the development of a new NFT (Non-Fungible Token) standard for artificial intelligence agents.
The 0G Foundation, which is the largest decentralized artificial intelligence ecosystem and the organization responsible for the first decentralized artificial intelligence operating system for onchain applications, has announced the end of its record-breaking node sale. The 0G AI Alignment Node Sale concluded on December 31 and raised over $30 million, making it the third-largest decentralized AI fundraising event in the industry’s history.
A total of around 8,500 individuals participated in the purchase of almost 85,000 nodes, bringing the total raised amount to $30.6 million. This node sale set a new record for the second-highest number of distinct purchasers. With the completion of the fundraising effort, which involved a combination of public and private funding, the 0G Foundation is guaranteed to start with a diverse and internationally distributed network of node operators.
During the public phase of the 0G AI Alignment Node Sale, CoinList, SwissBorg, and Second Lane were among the twenty major launchpads that provided assistance. Their support increased the exposure of the event and maximized participation.
In addition to the $30.6 million generated through the node auction, the 0G Foundation has secured a total of $400 million in financing, including funds from pre-seed and seed fundraisers. The foundation’s objective is to develop and scale the world’s first decentralized artificial intelligence operating system, and the funds raised will contribute to achieving this goal.
With the launch of the 0G network, thousands of nodes will be deployed worldwide, and each node’s operating license will be attached to an NFT. This approach will enable the 0G Foundation to create an ecosystem that is highly decentralized and community-focused, allowing node operators to have a significant voice in shaping the future. The 0G community has already conducted voting on proposed reward distribution mechanisms aimed at maximizing incentive alignment.
NFT holders will be eligible to receive up to fifteen percent of the total supply of 0G tokens over the next three years. They will also be eligible for additional rewards from development initiatives within the 0G ecosystem, without requiring a substantial amount of computing capacity. Therefore, NFT holders will play a crucial role in operating the world’s largest decentralized artificial intelligence processing network.
These nodes have the capability to prevent artificial intelligence from engaging in “cheating” or malicious behavior by controlling its actions and identifying any deviations from expected protocols or ethical standards. By distributing control over AI alignment, these nodes also contribute to ensuring the overall robustness and censorship resistance of the 0G network.
Following the conclusion of the 0G AI Alignment Node Sale, the focus has now shifted to the next stage of network development, including the proposal to develop a new NFT standard for artificial intelligence agents. 0G suggests using the ERC-7844 standard to enable the transfer of metadata when ownership changes.
When transferring an agent NFT token, ownership of the tokenId and associated metadata is transferred. As the metadata of an agent is crucial, it is often kept in a private or encrypted public environment. Therefore, the transmission of agent metadata must be verifiable and privacy-preserving, which is not possible with the ERC721 protocol.
The new approach will allow users to create virtual agents with true ownership and store their intelligence (metadata) in decentralized storage for permanent memory.
In preparation for the subsequent phase of the 0G AI Alignment Node introduction, a specialized dashboard has been developed to assist NFT owners. This dashboard allows node owners to link their wallets, monitor the status of their nodes, and receive revenue once the 0G network is live.
