Deutsche Telekom MMS has recently joined the ranks of corporate and private organizations operating worker nodes, and has begun running dedicated worker nodes as part of Subsquid’s decentralized data lake, adding to the more than 700 nodes already in operation.
Worker nodes are a crucial element of the Subsquid network, as they are responsible for processing queries and promptly delivering the necessary data from the data lake to the data consumer, including indexers.
Subsquid is a modular, highly scalable decentralized data platform that aims to provide Web3 product developers with the necessary access to blockchain data. Businesses and corporations often store unformatted raw data in data lakes.
Deutsche Telekom’s subsidiary has expanded its infrastructure by starting to operate worker nodes as a part of the data lake, thereby enhancing the network’s scalability and resilience. The nodes became operational earlier in the summer.
In a landscape where various layer-1 and layer-2 chains divide the overall Web3 audience, developers are required to build on multiple chains, making data acquisition challenging. While blockchain data is often accessible to the public, the format and access points vary across each chain.
Accessing data in a query-friendly manner has traditionally been facilitated through centralized APIs or direct access to RPC nodes. However, this approach comes with its own set of challenges, including expensive multi-chain data retrieval times, data corruption, and security vulnerabilities.
Subsquid aims to replace this method of obtaining historical data by providing a completely decentralized stack. Worker nodes respond to developers’ requests within its decentralized data lake, allowing organizations and individuals to access the data in their preferred formats, as it is stored in raw form.
During the testnet phase, over 60,000 indexers were added to the network. Since its launch on June 3rd, the mainnet has been rapidly gaining popularity. With nearly 700 worker nodes already deployed, the network has stored over 536 TB of data, ready to be distributed peer-to-peer.
